Introducing New Technology to Bangladesh

Concord has always been at the forefront of construction technology in Bangladesh and their innovations in the construction industry have quickly become industry standards. Concord was the first company to set up automated batching plants to supply ready-mix concrete for construction back in 1992. Now they have the biggest batching plants and the largest fleet of truck mixers in Dhaka.  

Concord is also a pioneer in the field of concrete building materials. They were the first company to set up concrete block plants in Bangladesh and now have three fully automated plants that manufacture concrete hollow blocks, paving blocks, ceiling blocks and a host of other concrete products. Concord also has a terrazzo tile manufacturing factory in Shalna. These backward linkages are essential to ensure the quality of Concord’s construction works.

Block Plants (Meghna River Bank)  

Concord set up two fully automated high capacity European block plants on the Meghna River Bank in 1998. Concrete blocks were not in use here before this. Concord Ready – Mix introduced concrete blocks to Bangladesh and were also responsible for educating the Bangladeshi construction industry in the use of these products.
 

Now the Government of Bangladesh is promoting the use of concrete blocks and allied construction materials instead of clay products because of their harmful effect on the environment.  

Products include hollow blocks, ornamental blocks, pavers, kerb stones, roof tiles, cladding blocks, etc.

Concord ready mix concrete batching plants

Ready Mix Concrete Batching Plants (Tejgaon, Dhaka)

The concrete batching plant in Tejgaon was set up in 1990 with Italian machinery to meet Concord’s own demand for quality concrete for its numerous construction projects. This was the first batching plant of its kind in Bangladesh. Over time the demand for ready-mix concrete for the construction industry grew tremendously.  

Concrete of specified strength and mix-design is manufactured in Concord’s computer controlled batch plants and delivered to clients’ sites by Concord’s own fleet of transit mixers.  

Concord also has high pressure concrete pumps to facilitate the pouring of ready-mix concrete especially for high rise projects.

Concord Shalna Terrazzo Tiles Factory

The terrazzo tiles factory was set up in Shalna in 1999. The factory has a fully automated Italian press machine which manufactures pressed mono-layer terrazzo tiles. There are four more semi-automatic machines for the manufacture of double layer terrazzo tiles (with backing). The tiles are polished in a 10 head linear grinding machine. The shine and strength achieved by this method cannot be achieved by other methods of production.  

These machines are also very versatile. Other products include engraved cement tiles in many colours and patterns for use in driveways, pavements, courtyards and gardens.

Block Plants (Anarpura)

This factory runs a Besser V-3 Vibrapac to produce some of the strongest concrete blocks in the world. The blocks can easily achieve strengths of over 30 MPa and are used in high-rise load bearing construction, especially suited for earthquake prone zones. The entire Lake City project is constructed with these products. The Vibrapac is a very versatile machine and can produce non load-bearing products and pavers too.
